Blood Brothers Fx is a Montreal based practical effects company. We specialize in conception, development, engineering and production of quality special effects for film, television, live events, advertisements and more… Pyrotechnics of all kinds, action effects, atmospheric effects and of course… BLOOD… Nobody controls it better than us. We work with you to bring your craziest ideas to the screen with industry leading safety standards.
PYROTECHNICS
Designing explosions of all kinds is the reason we wake up in the morning. We work with you to develop the best bang for your buck. From the side of a hill blowing up by a bombing, to the electrical spark… We do it all.
BLOOD
The name Blood Brothers was given to us by fellow colleagues for a reason. We design and build complex custom blood systems that allow us full control. From the realistic slit of a vein to full blast gore, nobody controls bodily fluids like us. We also make all the different blood types needed for all your departments and our blood doesn't stain.
PUPPETEERING
We take pride in keeping the practical in effects. We often build puppets to be able accomplish what needs to be done for the shot. Full body puppets being destroyed, birds flying on fire or flapping fish on the ground... Nothing beats a successful live performance for the lens.
FIRE
From the biggest house burning that stops when “CUT” is yelled, to the smallest campfire that keeps its continuity for hours and hours using the same wood or a controlled and secure real burn, we can achieve it all with the highest security standards.
HAZE
Subtle (almost invisible) interior haze will help kick up light and depth to make your DOP the happiest camper on set. Working haze is an artform and we know how to control it. No more techs flapping a flag in the room, no more expensive waiting for haze to even out. We work with haze in a different way and it stays the same all day long, always ready to film.
FOG
No matter if you need a little fog in the foreground or a complete wipeout of the background, we can do pretty much anything with fog. We use 200’ distributors that will fog up your set before the camera is ready.
RAIN
Either you imagined rain in a scene or there’s a heavy forecast during your upcoming days of shooting and you’re worried about continuity, with our multiple rain rigs, we'll make sure it's pouring!
ACTION EFFECTS
Squibs, gun fights, ricochets, stuff breaking, fake (or real) weapon design or anything that will make your action scene what it needs to be. We use many different tricks and techniques to help you create intense and amazing sequences.
CUSTOM EFFECTSAND PROPS
Your writer imagined it and your director loved it? We’ll make it happen. Welding, carpentry, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics or even that metal cube that illuminates when it gets close to aliens. We can build pretty much anything you need.
LIVE EVENTS
Mixing traditional stage effects with film effects is always a way to make sure the crowd will be amazed by the quality and originality of your event.
ASSETS FOR VFX
No matter how much we like to get as much on camera as possible, sometimes the best way to achieve something crazy is to team up with VFX and provide them with the real assets they need to make realistic comps.
WEAPON DESIGN & RIGGING
To make a weapon seem violent on screen, it must be safe. We take care of all the versions of a weapon to get that perfect hit or kill. From the real close-up ready version, passing by the rigged into the body version, to the soft and totally harmless version that actors can hit each other with.
